- A Heavy Heart: The average giraffe’s heart weighs in at about 25 pounds (11.3 kg). It also beats at roughly twice the rate of a human’s at 170 bpm. They need to do this in order to supply blood to the brain up through their long necks.
- Born Tall: A newly born giraffe will often be as tall as 6 feet.
- They fight with their necks: When giraffes face off against predators or one another, they will use their incredibly powerful necks like a flail. While it may look silly to us, these attacks can cause severe damage to any would-be attackers.
