Paignton Zoo is going to be closed for one day. The zoo will be shut to the public on Tuesday 11th February so that a large tree near the entrance building can be cut down safely.

The tree is likely to become dangerous and it’s right beside the entrance building, the raised wooden walkway into the zoo, the flamingo lagoon and the miniature railway track. The easiest thing to do is close the site on a quiet day in February so the tree can be cut down and cleared away before the half term holiday.

The flamingos have been moved temporarily. It’s a shame to have to fell such a wonderful tree, but the work needs to be done. The zoo hopes to plant a new tree to replace it.

While Paignton Zoo is usually open every day but Christmas Day, it’s not unknown for the site to close for a day or so due to bad weather. Monday Monkeys that was scheduled for Monday 10th will still be postponed - the session will now take place on Monday 24th February. Living Coasts, in Torquay, will be open as usual from 10.00am.
We greatly apologise for any inconvenience caused.
