Learn more about the wildlife on your doorstep from bees to butterflies and mammals to seabirds at our Nearby Nature Day on 29th September 2018.

Our Conservation and Education teams will be hosting a variety of free, child-friendly activities for you to take part in throughout the day on the Baboon Rock lawn area near the top end of the Zoo. 


  • Pond dipping: 11.00 am & 1.00 pm – Explore our nature pond and it's inhabitants. This is a bookable activity, please book in at the Information Desk when you arrive, spaces available on a first come, first serve basis. 
  •  Barn Owl pellet dissection: 11.45am - 12.45pm & 1.45pm - 2.45pm – Delve into pellet dissection and discover what a Barn Owl eats.
  • Make a bug pooter – Make a pooter from recycled materials to take home and explore the bugs in your back garden.
  • Making the most of your garden for wildlife – Our expert wildlife gardener will be on hand to give you information and advice on how you can help wildlife in your local patch.
  • Mini-beast hunting – Hunt out native mini-beasts enjoying the gardens of Paignton Zoo.
  • Devon Wildlife Trust –  DWT will be on site running activities to inspire you to love Devon’s wildlife.
