7 things to do at Paignton Zoo this Easter
Published: Apr 6, 2019There's always something new to see at Paignton Zoo.
Visit our latest exhibits
Have you seen our Boyd’s forest dragons and Philippine water monitors in Reptile Tropics, visited the meerkats in their new home at The Ranch, spotted our kangaroo joey peeking out of its mother’s pouch, caught sight of our new roadrunners, stopped by to see Bruce the echidna in his new nocturnal house and met our bird keepers taking our flamingo chick for a walk by the Avian Breeding Centre?
Follow the Top Trumps trail
Pick up a Super Top Trumps card* when you arrive and go on a quest to be the best - compare your scores against the giant cards to see if you can trump them!
The giant cards feature Paignton Zoo's very own amazing animals and form a large trail around the Zoo. Afterwards enter your score online to be added into a monthly prize draw to win some fantastic prizes.
*£1.50 charge per Super Top Trumps card and trail sheet.
Watch our Winged Wonders bird show, brought to you by the Devon Bird of Prey Centre. See these magnificent birds from around the world as they show off their skills and agility, flying close by in our Animal Encounters Theatre. Shows run at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm every day (except Wednesdays out of the school holidays) from the 6th April to the 1st September, and what’s more, it’s free!
Learn more about our animals with educational talks
Every day we run a varied selection of free talks for our guests to attend with extra talks at weekends and over the holidays. Find out more about our animal species and the individuals we have here at Paignton Zoo including pelicans, tigers, giraffes, gorillas and the grand old lady of the zoo herself, our African elephant Duchess, to name a few.
Take a look at our talk schedule on our website, download the Paignton Zoo app or check the board when you arrive. https://www.paigntonzoo.org.uk/plan-your-visit/whats-on
Get up close with an Animal Experience
Our animal experiences allow you to get up close and personal with some of our most popular animals, such as the giraffes, giant tortoises, rhinos and more! As part of your experience, you will meet and chat with the keepers - a great opportunity to learn about the animals and their natural habitat from the people that know them best. Depending on the experience, you may also get to help out with feeding time!
Please remember to book your experience in advance here; https://www.paigntonzoo.org.uk/support-us/gifts-experiences
Let the kids run wild
There’s more to do at Paignton Zoo with play park facilities located by the Lakeside, on the lawn by Baboon Rock, the Hangout and if you have younger children or the weather isn’t at its best, there’s Jungle Fun, an indoor soft play area too!
Grab a bite to eat
The Island Restaurant is the ideal place to stop for a freshly ground coffee (specially brewed for Paignton Zoo), breakfast baps, lunch or afternoon tea. Serving a wide range of food, including chef-made sandwiches, baguettes, paninis, salads, hot lunches, Chunk pasties, homemade soup, and jacket potatoes served with a selection of homemade fillings. We also offer easy pick up lunch boxes for children.
If that doesn’t whet your appetite, then why not visit the Hangout Pizzeria - freshly made on site, or the Great Griller Burger Shack which offers a range of burgers straight from the grill. Both have vegetarian options available too.
