20th Anniversary biaza research conference

We are excited to be back in South Devon, the birthplace of the BIAZA Research Conference, for a special celebration of zoo research. As an anniversary conference, the programme will include a series of talks from invited speakers, which will celebrate the past and the future of zoo research.  We are also inviting contributions from current zoo researchers in the form of: oral presentations, ‘speed data’ presentations and posters.

The conference will be hosted by Paignton Zoo, Living Coasts and South Devon College and will start with a ‘Pimms and Penguins’ icebreaker at Living Coasts on the evening of 9th July plus a workshop for early career scientists ‘Working your Networks’.  The main conference will take place on 10th-11th July, with presentations at South Devon College plus tours, posters and a 20th Anniversary dinner at Paignton Zoo.
For details of the timings and locations, please see the timetable. The full conference timetable is now available to view here.

The deadline for registration was Tuesday 3rd July 2018 and has now passed, so registration for the conference is closed.

Abstract submission

Abstract submission is now closed and we are currently reviewing the abstracts.  The conference will feature the following presentation types:

• Oral presentations – 12mins plus 3mins for questions
• Speed data presentations – strictly 6 slides in 6 minutes!
• Poster presentations – A1 portrait only please

Over the course of the conference, we will be visiting three South Devon venues.  Please note on 10th July, we will be starting the day at South Devon College, and finishing the day at Paignton Zoo.  If you have your own transport, you will need to move it over to Paignton Zoo (cars can be left at Paignton Zoo overnight if desired).  If there is enough demand, we can provide a bus from South Devon College to Paignton Zoo (one-way trip). Please indicate your preference on your registration form.
