King Colobus Monkey
Forest and wooded grassland.
Mainly leaves, some fruit and seeds.
Because they eat mainly leaves which have a low food value, these monkeys have to eat throughout the day. These leaves are fermented and digested in their unusually large stomachs.
A single youngster is born after a gestation of approximately 180 days (6 months). They are pure white at birth, developing black markings at one month.
Habitat destruction and hunting for food.
There is a European zoos' Endangered species Programme (EEP) for this monkey.
