Sponsoring an orang-utan at Paignton Zoo will make a real contribution to our important conservation work and the care of our apes at the zoo.
Our sponsorship packs make a fabulous gift for animal lovers of any age. Prices start from as little as £35 per year, with three different packs to choose from.
At Paignton Zoo, we have a group of Bornean orang-utans. This subspecies is listed as Critically Endangered, with only around 100,000 estimated to be left in the wild. Their population has declined by more than 50% over the past 60 years due to the destruction of their habitat for unsustainable palm oil production.
There are conservation breeding programmes in zoos worldwide, including an EAZA ex-situ breeding programme (EEP) for this great ape.
How do I sponsor an orang-utan?
First choose the sponsorship package that you wish to purchase online from the options below and then go on make your animal selection.
Sponsorships apply to the species rather than individual animals. This is because some of our animals may move to other zoos as part of breeding programmes. If your sponsored species moves, we will advise you and you will be given the opportunity to transfer your sponsorship to another species.
