Sponsoring a rhino at Paignton Zoo will make a real contribution to our vital conservation work for rhinos and other African species.
Our sponsorship packs make a fantastic gift for animal lovers of any age. Prices start from as little as £35 per year, with three different packs to choose from.
At Paignton Zoo, we have two black rhinos – Sita and Manyara. This subspecies is listed as Critically Endangered with around 5,000 individuals left in the wild today. Poaching and trafficking of rhino horn continues to plague this species and its recovery.
There are five species of rhino, all of which are endangered to some extent, and only intensive management and breeding programmes in zoos and national parks will save them from extinction. As part of our support for the Dambari Wildlife Trust in Africa, we help to research and monitor these magnificent animals and ensure that they remain an integral part of this unique environment for generations to come.
How do I sponsor a rhino?
First choose the sponsorship package that you wish to purchase online from the options below and then go on make your animal selection.
Sponsorships apply to the species rather than individual animals. This is because some of our animals may move to other zoos as part of breeding programmes. If your sponsored species moves, we will advise you and you will be given the opportunity to transfer your sponsorship to another species.

Junior sponsorship gift box – £54 (Previously £59)
Includes all items within the standard sponsorship pack plus:
- An eco-friendly rhino soft toy*
- One child day ticket to Paignton Zoo
- Due to supply issues, we currently do not have any presentation boxes available. The price is reduced to reflect this.

Adult sponsorship gift box – £59 (Previously £64)
Includes all items within the standard sponsorship pack plus:
- A Paignton Zoo rhino mug
- One adult day ticket to Paignton Zoo
