You can make a real difference to the care of our large reptiles at the zoo and our conservation work by sponsoring a giant tortoise.
Our sponsorship packs make a wonderful gift for animal lovers of any age. Prices start from as little as £35 per year, with three different packs to choose from.
The Aldabra giant tortoise is currently classified as a Vulnerable species on the IUCN Red List. The Aldabra Atoll, where this species comes from, is protected by the Seychelles Islands Foundation, where conservation breeding programmes are in place. Our group of five giant tortoises are very special, as they were confiscated by Customs from an illegal importation back in 1986, and have been enjoying a peaceful life with us ever since!
How do I sponsor a giant tortoise?
First choose the sponsorship package that you wish to purchase online from the options below and then go on make your animal selection.
Sponsorships apply to the species rather than individual animals. This is because some of our animals may move to other zoos as part of breeding programmes. If your sponsored species moves, we will advise you and you will be given the opportunity to transfer your sponsorship to another species.

Junior sponsorship gift box – £54 (Previously £59)
Includes all items within the standard sponsorship pack plus:
- A giant tortoise soft toy*
- One child day ticket to Paignton Zoo
- Due to supply issues, we currently do not have any presentation boxes available. The price is reduced to reflect this.

- A Paignton Zoo giant tortoise mug
- One adult day ticket to Paignton Zoo
