Eating at the Zoo

Gibbon Island Restaurant

Located in the heart of the zoo and overlooking Gibbon Island, the Island Restaurant is the ideal place to stop for a morning coffee, breakfast ciabatta, lunch or afternoon tea.

We serve a wide range of food, from chef made sandwiches and baguettes, main meals, salads and hot or cold filled jacket potatoes. We also offer easy pick up lunch boxes for children.

We place an emphasis on ethical trading and we prepare home-made foods with carefully chosen ingredients, such as ensuring that our seafood is pole and line caught, M.S.C. labelled or locally landed in Brixham. The meat used in our dishes comes straight form the farm, from free-roaming animals and our rainforest coffee is carefully chosen for its traceability. We endeavour to be palm oil free as palm oil production has such a large detrimental effect on the rainforest and its wildlife.

The Island Restaurant is open daily from 10.00 a.m. until half an hour before the zoo closes. Please check our closing times depending on time of year. There is plenty of seating inside, or on sunny days why not enjoy your meal on the lawn outside the restaurant?

Rainforest Café Bar

Located immediately next to the Gibbon Island Restaurant, the Rainforest Café Bar is fully licensed and open every day, all year round, serving a selection of beers, lagers, wines & soft drinks.

There's plenty of seating inside or out on the patio for those lovely sunny days. So why not enjoy a refreshing drink in our bar whilst watching the gibbons playing in the trees?

Snack Shack (seasonal)

Situated at the end of the Island Restaurant, the Snack Shack offer a take way facility on your way to explore the zoo. This coffee shop and takeaway offers a range of freshly made sandwiches, baguettes, hot or cold filled sub rolls, coffees, tea or hot chocolate and a selection of cold drinks.

Tree Tops

This shack serves gourmet burgers, from 100% local beef burger to red tractor chicken burger with home-made spicy salsa and Spanish style sausages made locally at Churston Farm from free roaming pork. We also offer the finest palm oil free chips, made from British potatoes.

Baboon Rock (seasonal)

This coffee shop and takeaway offers a range of Chunk pasties (locally and lovingly made in Ottery St Mary, Devon), fresh ground fairtrade coffee, tea and hot chocolate, Westcountry ice cream and a selection of cold drinks.
