How long have you been a keeper?
18 months.
Why did you become a keeper?
I worked in the Zoo as part of my National Diploma in Animal Management – my ambition was to become a zoo keeper with reptiles being of particular interest.
What is the best thing about the job?
The diversity of animals, from tiny frogs and lizards to the giant tortoises and crocodiles. Also, the close contact you only get when working on the reptile section.
What is the worst thing about the job?
I don’t really have a worst thing, although it does get very hot sometimes working in the Tropical House!
What animals do you work with at the Zoo?
Reptiles.
What is you favourite animal at the Zoo?
Giant tortoises and chameleons.
