Growing Schools

Paignton Zoo has recently become part of the Growing Schools scheme, a nationwide programme funded by the Department of Education which sets a national standard for educational visits to gardens. We have been awarded the status of a Growing Schools Garden recognising its work in promoting Learning Outside the Classroom.

Here at the Zoo we are offering two new opportunities as part of our Growing Schools Programme.

We are offering you the chance to participate in our Master School Gardener Certificate Course, have a look at the course programme here.
The mornings are packed with hands on gardening tuition and the afternoon sessions are creative and designed to give you those extra skills to help make your gardening projects really exciting.

We are also giving you the opportunity to have members of Zoo staff from our Education, Gardening and Graphics departments come to your school.
They can work with teachers or children on projects involving gardening, environmental education and outdoor art.
